Every ABA session will look different! After a comprehensive functional behavior assessment by the behavior analyst, we will make a recommendation based on your child's individual needs. Typically ABA is in the child's home or school. We spend time getting to know your child and your family to ensure therapy is effective and values based.
ABA is "active" therapy. ABA interventions are often implemented during play or during the "typical routine" in the home setting. We teach skills needed to help your child meet their full potential. This may include but is not limited to communication skills, independent daily living skills, increasing social skills, and cognition skills.
Direct 1:1 ABA therapy includes a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who is supervised by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) about 10%-20% of the weekly sessions. The BCBA will also conduct caregiver training sessions. ABA is a science and we make decisions based on our data that is collected during sessions. The data demonstrates whether what we are doing is working or needs to be modified. Caregiver collaboration is essential to the success of every ABA program!
The typical ABA program for children with autism can be anywhere from 10-40 hours per week. Focused ABA therapy is for a client with a specific focus, for example, social skills training. Focused ABA is approximately 10-20 hours. Comprehensive ABA therapy is for clients who have higher needs for skill acquisition areas and may exhibit more severe problem behaviors. Comprehensive ABA therapy can be 20-40 hours of direct therapy per week. Kiddos with ADHD or other behavioral disorders may work with us anywhere from 6-10 hours per week. The BCBA will make a recommendation based on your child's needs.
Currently, most medical insurance carriers will cover ABA for individuals diagnosed with autism. We are in-network providers with BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Compsych, Optum/United Health Care, Tricare, and Humana.
Packages are available for families looking for services that do not have medical insurance coverage and would be private pay.
IEP Advocacy is a private pay service and billed according to contracted consultant rates.
Due to insurance funding, ABA is not widely used for populations outside of the autism community. Unfortunately, families whose children could benefit from ABA are missing out on an extremely effective therapy. Our goal at Shoreline Behavioral is to disseminate this highly effective treatment to a larger community. We will work with you to find a solution that works for your family.
